The Expert center for Taxonomic Identification
The Expert-center for Taxonomic Identification (ETI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the production of scientific and educational computer material for the preservation of knowledge concerning the world's plants and animals. ETI is supported by the The Netherlands Government, the University of Amsterdam and UNESCO. It co-operates with major scientific institutes in the world.
ETI developed the Linnaeus II interactive software for biodiversity documentation. This fully multimedia software package is used worldwide by scientists to build easy up-datable species information and identification systems on their own Macintosh or Windows computers. Finished datasets are released on CD-ROM. As these are in a standardized format, they facilitate the exchange and combination of data. All biodioversity data are stored in ETI's World Biodiversity Database, which is available on line from 1995 onwards. For more information, contact:
